AcidPro – Blood Gas Analyzer Capacitor App

AcidPro is a complete, offline iOS app template for systematic arterial blood gas (ABG) and acid-base interpretation. It supports both the Traditional (Henderson-Hasselbalch) approach and the Physicochemical (Stewart) approach, plus oxygenation and ventilation indices and hyperglycemia (DKA/HHS) correction tools. Built with React 18 inside a Capacitor 8 native iOS shell. No login, no server, no API keys – the app works 100% offline.

Demo Instructions

No login and no demo credentials are required. The app is 100% offline.
On first launch, accept the healthcare professional disclaimer to enter the app.
From the home screen tap “Traditional”, enter the sample values pH 7.09, pCO2 25, HCO3 9, Na 140, Cl 98 and tap “Analyze” to see a full metabolic acidosis analysis.
Tap “Physicochemical” for the Stewart analysis (additional fields for K, Ca, Mg, phosphate and lactate).
Tap “Oxygenation” and enter PaO2 58, FiO2 40, PaCO2 62, Age 68 to see P/F ratio and A-a gradient results.
Tap “Ventilation” and enter Minute Ventilation 9, PaCO2 68, Height 180 to see the Ventilatory Ratio.
Tap “Corrected Na” or “Correction Monitor” under Hyperglycemia for DKA/HHS correction tools.
Open Settings with the gear icon (top right) to find the full Terms of Use.

Everything the App Does

Professional disclaimer gate: first-launch “For Healthcare Professionals” terms acceptance, stored on device with acceptance date.
Traditional analysis (Henderson-Hasselbalch): primary disorder detection (metabolic/respiratory acidosis/alkalosis), acute vs chronic compensation (Winter’s formula and standard expected compensation formulas), anion gap with albumin correction, delta ratio with interpretation, HAGMA flagging.
“Show working” transparency: expandable calculation breakdowns (Winter’s formula, anion gap correction, delta ratio math) right in the results card.
Stewart physicochemical analysis: Strong Ion Difference (SIDa and SIDe), ATOT weak-acid buffers (Figge-Fencl, pH-dependent albumin and phosphate charge), Strong Ion Gap (SIG) for unmeasured anions, osmolar gap, visual breakdown of what is pushing SID and ATOT.
Guided cause workup: “Processes to Investigate” list and step-by-step investigation of high anion gap metabolic acidosis (lactate, ketones, toxic alcohols, uremia, D-lactate, pyroglutamate, salicylates), normal anion gap acidosis (urine anion gap, RTA types 1/2/4, diarrhea, post-DKA), metabolic alkalosis (urine chloride, diuretics, volume depletion), respiratory acidosis/alkalosis causes and unexplained anions.
Copy clinical summary: one-tap copy of the full interpretation text to the clipboard for notes or handover documentation.
Oxygenation module: P/F ratio with severity grading (mild/moderate/severe) and A-a gradient with age-expected reference values.
Ventilation module: Ventilatory Ratio (ventilatory efficiency index) with predicted body weight from height and sex, severity grading, formula walkthrough and interpretation guide.
Hyperglycemia tools (DKA/HHS): corrected sodium, effective osmolality, free water deficit with weight and total body water factor, plus a Correction Monitor that tracks glucose, sodium and osmolality rate of change between presentation and current values with safety alerts.
Live input validation: out-of-range values trigger visible “confirm value” warnings before analysis.
Step-by-step flow: progress indicators (Step 1 / Step 2), animated screen transitions and staggered card animations.
Bottom sheets and info modals: tap the (i) buttons next to SID, ATOT and pCO2 for plain-language explanations.
Settings and Terms: in-app 13-section Terms of Use and disclaimer, app version info.
Empty states: friendly placeholders in the Correction Monitor before data is entered.
Apple-style design: clean iOS look with SF system fonts, subtle shadows, rounded cards and a light color system defined by CSS variables.

Technology

React 18 + Vite – standard React project with a Vite build step, split into clean component and screen files
Capacitor 8 – native iOS shell (Swift/WebKit), standard Xcode project
Vanilla CSS design system – colors, radii and shadows as CSS variables in one place
100% offline – no accounts, no analytics, no network calls, no third-party plugins
iOS 17.0+ deployment target, iPhone and iPad
