Chapterly iOS is a native iOS application, written in Swift with SwiftUI, for reading serialised web novels, e-books and audiobooks. Built for the fast-growing digital reading market, it pairs a fully native mobile UI with a production-ready Laravel admin panel that owns the catalogue, the chapter prose, the coin economy and the subscription entitlements.

The app is organized around five main tabs — Discover, For You, Rewards, Library, and Profile — giving users a complete journey from finding a book to binge-reading it chapter by chapter. The catalog browses in three sections — Novels, eBooks and Audiobooks — so a reader after a serialised web novel, a reader after a finished ebook, and a listener who wants to be read to each land on their own shelf. Books open in the reader their format calls for: a distraction-free prose reader with themes and typography controls, a native PDF page view on PDFKit, a reflowable EPUB reader that keeps the reader’s own font and theme, or an audiobook player built on AVFoundation with background playback and lock-screen controls. A built-in coin economy, daily check-ins, rewarded ads, and a VIP subscription unlock premium chapters and remove ads.

Backend included

The package ships the Laravel admin panel and mobile API (novel-ebook-admin-panel): a PHP/Laravel application with an admin dashboard, database migrations and seeders, a demo catalogue, and the REST API the app talks to. It also ships a multi-language reading website with web checkout and a self-publishing author portal. If you already run on classic PHP/MySQL hosting, everything you need is in the box — the documentation covers local setup, the environment variables, the seeders and the production deploy.

Chapterly ships as a complete reading platform with a demo catalog so you can run it end-to-end out of the box:

Demo book artwork uses placeholder / generated covers that you replace with your own key-art.
Demo chapters use machine-generated placeholder prose so reading works during testing — you replace these with your own licensed novel or comic content.
Demo audiobooks use placeholder narration audio so the player, the sleep timer and offline downloads can be tested end-to-end — you replace these with your own licensed or commissioned recordings.
Demo PDF and EPUB titles are sample documents, included so both readers open out of the box.
The full catalog (genres, books, volumes, chapters, and home shelves) is managed entirely by you in the admin panel.

You are responsible for the books you distribute. Chapterly provides the app, backend, and catalog tooling; sourcing and licensing the actual novels, comics, e-book files and narration recordings is up to you. If you open the author portal to outside writers, you are also responsible for moderating what they submit — every author-created book goes through a submit-and-review step before it can appear in the catalog.

Third-Party Services & Ongoing Costs — Please Read Before Buying

This app is built to work with the included Laravel web API / admin panel (MySQL), plus third-party services: Firebase (Auth, Remote Config, Analytics, Crashlytics, APNs), RevenueCat (VIP subscriptions), OneSignal (push), optional AdMob ads (banner & rewarded), and Stripe / Razorpay for web checkout. You will need to create your own accounts for these services, configure the API keys, and manage usage yourself.

Important: your purchase here is a one-time payment for the source code only. Several of the third-party services this app relies on can charge you money on an ongoing, recurring basis. Each of them has a free tier, but those tiers are limited — once your app’s usage grows past them, the provider bills you directly, every month, for as long as you run the app:

Firebase (Auth, Remote Config, Analytics, Crashlytics) — ongoing charges may apply. The free plan covers small usage only. Once you exceed the free-tier limits — active users and authentication volume, Remote Config fetches, Cloud Messaging / APNs volume, Crashlytics and Analytics data (including BigQuery export) — the project must move to Google’s pay-as-you-go plan and you are billed monthly. Phone / SMS sign-in is charged per verification from the very first message. These costs scale with the size of your user base.
RevenueCat — ongoing charges may apply, and they grow with your revenue. RevenueCat is free only up to a monthly tracked revenue threshold. Above that threshold it charges a percentage of the monthly tracked revenue that passes through it (or a fixed higher-tier fee). This means the better your app performs, the larger this bill becomes — treat it as a permanent, recurring cut of your subscription income, not a one-off cost.
OneSignal — ongoing charges may apply. The free tier limits subscriber count, message volume and features. Higher notification volumes, larger audiences and features such as advanced segmentation, A/B testing, journeys and priority support all require paid monthly plans, and the price increases as your subscriber count grows.
Stripe / Razorpay (web checkout) — per-transaction fees. Both payment processors deduct a percentage plus a fixed fee from every payment taken on the web store, for every transaction.
Apple App Store — commission and membership fee. An Apple Developer Program membership is required to publish to the App Store and is billed annually (currently USD 99/year). Apple also takes its standard commission on in-app purchases and subscriptions.
Hosting, domain, database, CDN and media storage — ongoing charges. The Laravel backend, book files and audiobook audio have to be hosted and served by you. None of this is included in the purchase, and bandwidth-heavy content such as audiobook downloads can raise these costs significantly.
AdMob costs you nothing to run — it pays you a share of ad revenue — but it is optional and earns nothing until your app has traffic.

Built for iOS

SwiftUI throughout — no UIKit screens, no storyboards. The settings screen is a real inset-grouped list, so row heights, separators and Dynamic Type match every other app on the device.
Each format in its own native surface — prose is drawn in SwiftUI, PDF chapters open in a real PDFKit page view, and EPUB chapters are unpacked and reflowed so they keep the reader’s chosen font, size, theme and margins instead of being handed to a web view.
Audio that behaves like an audio app — narration keeps playing with the screen off, with cover art and elapsed time on the lock screen, and transport controls that work from the lock screen, headset buttons and CarPlay alike. A phone call pauses it and it resumes where it stopped, rather than restarting the chapter.
Sign in with Apple alongside Google and e-mail, as Guideline 4.8 requires, with in-app account deletion (5.1.1(v)) and Restore Purchases (3.1.1) already wired.
App Tracking Transparency asked once, after onboarding — never at launch — with ads falling back to non-personalised on a refusal.
