Driply — run your own cloud storage service

Driply is a complete, self-hosted cloud storage and file sharing platform: a Next.js web app, an admin panel, a REST API and a Flutter app for Android and iOS. You point it at your own database and your own object storage, set your prices, and sell storage plans under your own brand. One purchase, both surfaces, no monthly fee to us.

Try it before you buy

Live demo: driply.devsnack.dev
Admin panel: driply.devsnack.dev/admin
Documentation: devsnack.dev/products/driply/docs — the full guide, open to read before you buy
Sign in as an admin: admin@driply.local / 0123456789 — the admin panel is read-only on the demo, since this password is public
Sign in as a user: demo@driply.local / 0123456789 — upload something, share it, and open the link in a private window to see what a recipient sees
Android app: download the demo APK — about 56 MB, Android 7.0 or newer. It is already pointed at the demo server, so sign in with the same user account above and you will see the same files you uploaded in the browser.

Please use the accounts above rather than registering. The demo has no mail server configured, so a self-registered account cannot confirm its email address and will not be able to upload.

There is no downloadable iOS build — Apple does not allow app distribution outside the App Store and TestFlight. The iOS app is the same Flutter codebase and is included in full; build it with Xcode from the source you buy.

Why Driply

Most file-hosting scripts give you a web app and sell the mobile client as a second item. Driply ships both, built against the same API, from one codebase you own outright. And nothing about it is locked to a vendor: your database is one connection string, your storage is one endpoint, and both can be swapped for anything compatible without touching the code.

✨ What it does

A real file browser — folders nested as deep as you like, move, copy, rename, multi-select, star, and a recent view.
⬆️ Uploads that survive — files go up in chunks straight from the browser to your bucket. Lose your connection halfway through a 2 GB video and it resumes from the last chunk instead of starting again.
Share links you stay in control of — password-protect a link, give it an expiry date, cap how many times it can be downloaded, or turn it into a drop box that other people upload into. Revoke any of it later.
️ Preview before download — images, video with seeking, audio, PDFs, text and syntax-highlighted code all open in place, on web and on mobile.
️ A trash that means it — deleting moves a file aside for 30 days where it can be restored. Delete a folder and everything under it goes together, and comes back together.
Search that finds things — server-side, across names and file types, backed by a real index rather than a table scan.
Plans and billing — define your plan catalogue in the admin panel and take payment through Stripe Checkout, with invoice history and PDF downloads.
Quotas that hold up — storage is tracked per account as uploads and deletes happen, and reconciled nightly.
️ Over-quota accounts go read-only, never deleted — a customer whose card fails can still download and delete their files. They just cannot upload. You never destroy a paying customer’s data because a payment lapsed.
‍ A full admin panel — users, files, plans, subscriptions, analytics over time, site settings, branding, and an append-only activity log.
Android and iOS app — browse, search, upload from the file picker, photo library or camera, download, preview, share, and pin files for offline use.
Rebrand in two files — the entire design system is design tokens in one CSS file and one Dart file. Change them and both surfaces follow.

Built with

Web: Next.js 16 (App Router), React 19, TypeScript in strict mode, Tailwind CSS v4
Database: PostgreSQL with Drizzle ORM — 15 tables, 4 migrations that run clean on an empty database
Auth: Better Auth, with database-backed sessions you can actually revoke, plus optional Google and GitHub sign-in
Storage: any S3-compatible provider — Cloudflare R2, Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, DigitalOcean Spaces
Mobile: Flutter 3, Riverpod 2, GoRouter, dio — one codebase for both platforms, with 416 tests
Background jobs: a table in the database you already have. No Redis, no queue service, nothing extra to install

What’s included

Full commented source for the web app, admin panel, REST API, background worker and Flutter app
Database schema, migrations and an idempotent seed script
Docker Compose setup — app, background worker and a reverse proxy with automatic HTTPS, plus an optional PostgreSQL service if you want everything on one machine. ffmpeg and pdftoppm are already in the image
Both typefaces self-hosted with their open-source licence files, cleared for you to redistribute
Brand mark as SVG, plus generated app icons and favicons
Full documentation, a quick-start guide and a deployment guide, in the package
6 months of item support

️ What you need to run it

A server that runs a long-lived process — a VPS or a container platform. With Docker it is four commands: configure, migrate, seed, up
PostgreSQL 14 or newer — managed, your own, or the optional container in the compose file
An S3-compatible storage bucket. This is the one piece you always supply yourself
Node.js 20.11+ and pnpm 10, only if you prefer to run it without Docker
Flutter 3.13+ only if you want to build the mobile app
ffmpeg and poppler-utils are optional, for video posters and PDF thumbnails — and are already inside the Docker image

Third-party services and what they cost you

Driply is source code, not a hosted service. Your purchase includes no hosting, no database, no object storage, no third-party account, and no credit with any provider. Every service below is operated by a third party and billed to you directly by that third party, under pricing that we neither set nor control and that can change at any time. Please check each provider’s current pricing yourself before you buy — the figures below are indicative only and were correct at the time of writing.

Required — Driply does not run without these:

A server, billed by your host. A 2 vCPU / 4 GB VPS is roughly $12–24 per month.
A PostgreSQL database, billed by your database host. Free tiers exist at launch scale; expect roughly $19–25 per month once you outgrow one, or nothing extra in money if you run it on the same server.
S3-compatible object storage, billed by your storage provider, per GB stored per month and — on most providers — per GB downloaded. Cloudflare R2 is around $0.015 per GB-month with no charge for downloads, which is why we recommend it; Amazon S3 storage is cheaper per GB but bills egress, and for a file host egress usually dominates the bill.
A domain name, billed by your registrar, typically $10–15 per year.

Optional — these features stay switched off until you configure them, and everything else keeps working:

SMTP email, billed by your email provider. Free tiers cover a few hundred messages a day; paid plans commonly start around $15–25 per month. Without it, email verification and password reset do not work.
Stripe, billed by Stripe. No monthly fee, but a percentage of every payment plus a fixed fee per transaction, varying by country — it comes out of your revenue on every subscription you sell. Without it, plans and quotas still work; there is simply nothing to purchase.
Google and GitHub sign-in — no charge at ordinary volumes. Without them, those buttons do not appear.
ffmpeg and poppler-utils — free open-source software you install on your own server. Without them, videos and PDFs show a typed icon instead of a thumbnail. Nothing fails.

Two of these scale with your success rather than sitting flat: storage grows with every file your customers keep, and payment processing grows with revenue. Price your plans with both in mind.

Security

No API key or secret ships anywhere in this package. Every value in the environment template is a placeholder, and there is no default password — the seed script generates a strong random one and prints it once.
The mobile app holds no third-party credentials at all. It talks only to your own API; every Stripe, SMTP and storage secret stays on your server.
Sessions live in your database and can be revoked individually — web and mobile alike.
File URLs are signed, short-lived and scoped to a single object. Stripe webhooks are signature-verified before anything is read from them.
The admin panel returns 404 rather than 403 to non-admins, so it does not advertise its own existence.

What’s NOT included

Stated up front so you can decide before you buy:

No hosting, domain, database, storage bucket or third-party account — see the costs section above
English only. There is no translation layer on either surface
Stripe is the only payment gateway implemented. A provider interface exists as the extension point, but adding another gateway is development work
No push notifications — deliberately, because push would force every buyer to create a Firebase project and rebuild the app before it worked at all. The app refreshes when it comes to the foreground instead
No in-app purchases. The app shows plan status and usage; upgrades happen on the web. This is Apple and Google policy for digital goods, not an omission
Uploads resume when the app returns to the foreground; they do not continue while the app is suspended by the operating system
No end-to-end client-side encryption — it would break thumbnails, previews and search. Files are encrypted at rest by your storage provider
No desktop sync client
The Flutter app ships with 416 automated tests; the web application has no automated test suite in this release

Support

6 months of item support are included, and can be extended from your Envato downloads page. Support covers how Driply works, help with the documented setup, and defects in the code. It does not cover hosting, server administration, third-party accounts or custom development — Envato’s item support policy excludes those, and we are happy to quote for customisation separately.

Email devsnack26@gmail.com. We aim to reply within 2 business days.

Licence

A Regular License covers one end product whose users are not charged. If you are charging your users — which is the point of a storage service with paid plans — you need an Extended License.
