What You Will Need

LeadMapper AI is a complete application that installs directly on your own server. It is not built for basic shared web hosting. Some accounts and keys below are required to run the app, and some are only needed if you plan to use that specific feature.

To Run the App

A cloud server (sometimes called a VPS, Ubuntu is recommended) with Node.js version 20 or newer, a MySQL database, and Redis for background tasks
A domain name or IP address to access your dashboard
A free Google Maps key, used to power the interactive map and location search inside the app. This is a standard requirement for any application that shows a Google map, and Google gives every account free monthly usage before any charge applies

To Use the AI Features

An account with at least one AI provider: OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or Google Gemini. Gemini has a free daily usage plan, so you can test the AI writing, scoring, and reply sorting features at no cost before deciding to upgrade

Only if You Plan to Use That Channel

A Meta WhatsApp Business account, if you want to send WhatsApp messages
A Twilio account, if you want to send text messages or make calls
A SendGrid account, or your own email server login, if you want to send email campaigns. Either option works, you do not need both

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Google Maps API key?
Yes, a free Google Maps key is required to show the interactive map and power location search inside the app, the same as any software that displays a Google map. This is separate from paid scraping services. LeadMapper AI does not use a paid, per lead scraping service to collect business data, and there is no limit set by us on how many businesses you can collect. A second Google key, called a Places key, is optional and only used as a paid backup lookup for listings that are unusually hard to reach through normal scraping.
Do I need coding skills to use it?
No coding is needed to use the app day to day. Installing it on your server does require basic comfort with a few command line steps, and the included guide walks through each one.
Which AI providers does it support?
OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, and Google Gemini. You connect your own account for whichever provider you choose, so you always know your AI costs in advance. Gemini offers a free daily usage plan.
Do I need Twilio or SendGrid accounts?
Only if you want to use those specific channels. A Twilio account is required for SMS text messages and phone call outreach. For email, you can use a SendGrid account or connect your own email server, whichever you prefer. Neither is required just to scrape and organize leads.
Do I need to buy proxies to use the scraper?
No. LeadMapper AI includes its own scraping protection and works without any outside proxies for normal use. Adding your own proxy addresses is optional and mainly helpful for very large or continuous scraping jobs.
Can I send WhatsApp messages without my number getting blocked?
LeadMapper AI uses the official Meta WhatsApp Business platform with approved message templates, which is the safe, Meta approved way to send WhatsApp outreach at scale. A Meta WhatsApp Business account is required for this channel.
Is my outreach compliant with spam laws?
LeadMapper AI includes unsubscribe links, do not contact lists, and daily sending limits to help you follow common email and messaging rules such as GDPR, CAN SPAM, and TCPA. You are still responsible for using the tool in line with the rules that apply to you and your leads.
Will AI send messages without my approval?
By default, no. Every AI drafted message goes into an approval queue for you to review, edit, or reject first. Automatic sending is available, but you have to turn it on yourself.
Does it work worldwide, including WhatsApp heavy regions?
Yes. You can scrape any Google Maps region, including the United States, Europe, and Asia. WhatsApp detection and messaging also make LeadMapper AI especially strong for South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, where WhatsApp is often the main way to reach a local business.
Is this a subscription I pay for every month?
No. You purchase it once and install it on your own server. There are no monthly platform fees. Your only ongoing costs are your server hosting and any AI, email, SMS, or WhatsApp provider usage you choose to use.
